OMG, more made-in-China garbage!!!

My son fell asleep wearing a necklace he had gotten as a prize at the local library's summer reading fair. (The necklace is a black cord with a silver dragon medallion on it.) When he woke up this morning, he had a red mark on his face. I didn't think anything of it, thinking perhaps he had leaned on a toy as he slept. He does like to smuggle a good toy or two into his bed! Well, after an hour or so I noticed he still had the red mark on his face but it is even angrier. Upon closer inspection, I notice there is a pattern. A DRAGON pattern! That is when it dawned on me that this poor child had laid on the rather large "charm" of the necklace and it has left a horrible red mark on his face!! I just got home from work a few hours ago and the mark is still there!! I need to post a pic. I am calling the library tomorrow to see if they can tell me where they got the necklaces so I know who to contact. After seeing the blog about the Wal-Mart flip-flops and the chemical burns I am really starting to freak out! (Just added a link to that blog in my links section....check it out!) Yet again, another reason to buy American and buy handmade!

Ooooh, not cool - it's probably made with an FD&C (water soluble) dye. So, when he slept (and sweat a bit), the water soluble dye came off onto his skin.

The main concern I would have is if the color is made with a skin safe dye.
